In order to qualify for fellowship programs, we’ve outlined key eligibility criteria below. Understanding and meeting these benchmarks ensure you are in good academic standing and eligible for funding options.
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Full-Time Enrollment:
Eligibility requires full-time enrollment in a minimum load of 12 quarter units.
2. Grade Expectations:
You must achieve a letter grade of B, S, or above for all coursework during each of the three most recent enrollment quarters.
3. Limited Incomplete Grades:
During the three most recent semesters of enrollment, you can earn no more than two incomplete (I) grades.
4. GPA Requirements:
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during each of the three most recent quarters of enrollment.
5. Academic Progress:
You need to demonstrate satisfactory academic progress towards your degree objective.
Considerations for Funded Students:
It’s essential to note that students who are funded fully from external fellowships are not allowed to maintain employment during their award tenure or receive a second full fellowship.
A “full fellowship” typically provides a stipend equivalent to a teaching or research assistantship and should suffice in covering the costs for general support. This includes living costs, transportation, personal expenses, and research requirements necessary for accomplishing your educational objectives within the award period.
By adhering to these criteria, you place yourself in a strong position for fellowship consideration. Remember that maintaining your academic performance and progress towards your degree are critical to your success.
