UC Irvine is pleased to welcome participants from the California State University (CSU) Sally Casanova Pre-Doctoral Program (CPDP). Each year the UC Irvine Graduate Division in partnership with the CSU Sally Casanova Pre-Doctoral Program hosts CPDP scholars in either the SURF (for prospective UC Irvine graduate students) or Competitive Edge (for newly admitted UC Irvine Ph.D. and M.F.A. students) summer programs.
Participants of CPDP who will be applying to UC Irvine for graduate studies may choose to attend UC Irvine for their summer research experience through the SURF program. Scholars will be required to secure a faculty mentor for the summer prior to the start of the start of the program. Students will participate in an intense series of workshops dedicated to graduate preparation for entrance into doctoral studies at UC Irvine in addition to conducting research.
Admitted CPDP scholars may be eligible to participate in the Competitive Edge summer program prior to the start of fall quarter.
