All graduate students, unless they’ve completed their undergraduate degree at an institution where English is the sole language of instruction according to the World Higher Education Database, need to show proficiency in oral English before being appointed Teaching Assistants or Teaching Associates. To become eligible for appointment as a Teaching Assistant (TA) or Teaching Associate, students must pass a campus-approved test, or if eligible, qualify for an exception.
